Toll Free Service

Toll Free (800) Numbers... How Do They Work?

Not so surprisingly, many of us don't have a clue how the Toll Free (800) number system works! Some of the more frequently asked questions are:

  • Do I need a separate line installed?
  • Do I have to buy another phone?
  • Are the rates exorbitant?

The answer to all three is NO!

When you acquire a toll free (800) number, all incoming calls to the toll free number are automatically routed to one of your existing numbers. Just think of it as an elaborate call forwarding service.

And since the incoming call is routed to an existing number, no additional phone is required.

Most carriers use the same rate per minute as their regular outgoing long distance service. However, many carriers charge a nominal monthly fee to cover associated paperwork.
